Must-Have Transitional Pieces for Fall
It's ninety degrees in Dallas today, but last week we got a preview of crisp fall weather and it. was. fabulous.
"Fall" is an interesting time in North Texas. You no longer start to sweat the moment you walk out the door, but it's certainly not chilly enough outside for a coat — or even a sweater most days!
In order to find that happy medium with my wardrobe, I love to combine the warm, fall colors with lightweight and breathable fabric. Here are a few of my favorite transitional pieces for fall in Texas:
1. Distressed Denim
Distressed denim has to be the perfect marriage of summer and fall. I love holding on to that last little bit of care-free summer vibes as I transition into wearing jeans and extra layers every day.
In my opinion, the perfect pair of jeans for fall are a medium-to-dark wash that I can dress up or down. Nordstrom has some options that I love right now including this pair from Vigoss:
Here are a few others that would be the perfect fall staple for your closet:
Everyone needs the perfect pair —who am I kidding? Pairs.—of booties. Side note: am I the only one who wishes we had chosen a slightly different name for this footwear? Short boots? Mini boots? I guess ankle boots is another acceptable term, but I picture a slightly taller version when I think of those...
Name aside, booties are the perfect footwear for fall. They're perfect with jeans, dresses, and even shorts on those days where summer tries to hang around just a little longer.
I absolutely LOVE all of these options:
3. Flowy Dresses
I love a flirty, feminine dress any time of year, but wearing a dress in the fall with the perfect pair of booties or sneakers is everything that's right in this world. And when it comes to choosing the perfect fall transitional dress, the flowier the better!
These are a few of my current favorites – if I had to pick one it would probably be this crinkle shift Dress. But please don't make me choose!
4. The Perfect Plaid
Would this list really be complete without the ultimate fall staple? Plaid is a must-have as the temperatures begin to drop. Whether you choose a flannel button-up, comfortable tunic, or lightweight shirt dress, the perfect plaid print will take your wardrobe seamlessly from summer to fall.
Did I miss any of your fall favorites? Let me know in the comments! In the mean time I'll be over here crossing my fingers for more of that beautiful fall weather next week. C'mon, Texas, I know you can do it!
